Travel Experience
We reached the main bridge section, and the wind hit the car so hard I thought we were going to be blown off the side. It was just non-stop driving and really watching the water below—it was a huge, dark blue drop. Seriously, just mastering the pace on this part of the road required total focus.
Midday, we had to pull off because the fog rolled in so quickly. It was actually kind of disorienting; you could only see about fifty yards in front of us. We spent twenty minutes just idling and waiting for the visibility to improve. Not much happened, but we needed the break.
We eventually drove through a small harbor town, and it was a nice break from the mountain passes. There was a bakery, and we just ended up buying some bread and drinking coffee. It made me realize these little towns are often part of the best viewpoints along the road.
The last hour of driving felt endless because the landscape kept changing constantly—from jagged mountains to rolling green valleys. I was just trying to mentally track how long the drive feels across such diverse terrain. It was surprisingly tiring, even though it was all gorgeous.
