Travel Experience
We started climbing earlier than expected and I remember thinking we’d already been driving for a while even though the map said we were still at the beginning of the Taurus Mountains section. It felt slower than it should have.
At one roadside stop there wasn’t much setup, just space to pull over and a view down into a valley. A few other cars were there, mostly people standing around stretching their legs and then leaving pretty quickly.
There was a long stretch where the road just kept winding through rocky slopes and dry hills. We didn’t really talk much, just reacted occasionally when a sharp turn came up or when a truck appeared out of nowhere.
We stopped in a small town for food and it took longer than planned because everything seemed a bit spaced out and quiet. Not bad, just slow. I remember checking the time more than anything else during that stop.
Near the higher part of the drive, the air got lighter and cooler, and we briefly argued about whether we had already passed the highest point or not. Nobody bothered to confirm, we just kept going through Anatolia without really settling it.
