Travel Experience

We started a bit later than we meant to and immediately got stuck behind slower traffic leaving town. It took a while before it actually felt like a coastal drive instead of just getting out of a busy area.

At one point we pulled over because there was a small dirt turnout where a few other cars had stopped. The beach below looked better from above than it did once we actually got closer, but we still stayed for a bit just to stretch.

There was a long stretch where the road kept dropping toward the sea and then climbing back up again. We didn’t talk much, just occasionally commenting when another cove appeared between the cliffs. The scenery was always a surprise.

We stopped for food in a roadside place that felt half unfinished but still operating normally. Service was slow and a bit improvised, but it matched the general pace of everything around there.

By the end of the Albanian Riviera Drive, it felt less like a series of destinations and more like one continuous line of coast we kept dipping in and out of. The scenery was always there, but we mostly experienced it in short glances between bends rather than big, focused stops.

Best time to visit

The best time to explore the Albanian Riviera Scenic Coastal Drive is typically during spring and summer months, when weather conditions are stable and visibility is high. However, autumn offers fewer crowds and more dramatic scenery.
