Travel Experience

We left fairly late and the first part was just normal highway driving, nothing special yet. It only started feeling like the route when the landscape got drier and the hills turned more uneven.

At one village we stopped because there was nowhere obvious to park except a small edge of road where everyone else had already squeezed in. We walked a bit through narrow streets, then came back sooner than expected because it was hotter than we thought.

There was a stretch where we mostly just drove between white villages without stopping. They looked similar from a distance, so we didn’t always feel like pulling over each time, even though they were clearly different once you got inside.

We stopped for food in a place with a small square and a few shaded tables. Service wasn’t fast, but nobody was in a rush, and it felt normal to just sit there for a while.

By the end of the Andalusia White Villages Route, I remember more of the rhythm between villages than any single one of them. Park, walk a bit, look around, then get back into the car and continue through southern Spain.
